True importance of Tu' Bishvat

In response to Opening the Freezer I'm not sure what is more frightening:

          1) The idea that an authoritative "ruling" can be issued concerning an appropriate time for dating

          2) The competition now facing the chevra

  1. Neither is frightening. The freezer is just a rule for those who CHOOSE to enroll in the yeshiva. The rule was instituted so people wouldnt just go there for a good resume. No one is standing behind you back yelling at you that your supposed to date now if you dont want to. And no one said you have to enroll in the yeshiva if you wanted to date earlier. And for the competition thing, why is it diffrent then any other "competition"? This is just another post to try to give a sour taste about those who want to serve Hashem. SHAME ON YOU!

  2. Dearest TD,
I'm sorry the sarcasm wasn't clearer. For the record, I do believe it is a good idea to delay dating until this time for the following reasons:

    1)let people settle in yeshiva
2)create a sense of structure and order to the crazy world of shiduchim

i wish you a great deal of hatzlacha in your endevours :)
